Explore Porchester Castle's grounds while learning about the fascinating history. The session begins with an engaging introduction from historians who will share insights into this powerful story. Following the talk, you'll take part in simple and creative photography activities, using your smartphone to capture traces of the past in thoughtful and artistic ways.

Winchester: Spooky winch word hunt 19th Oct - 3rd Nov 2024


Head to Winchester, Hampshire this October half term for some free frightful family fun. 

Join in the city-wide Halloween-themed trail, for kids and big kids alike, all you need to do is seek out nine Halloween-themed words hidden in the colourful pumpkin signs, displayed in the windows of businesses, across Winchester city centre. 

Grab a trail sheet from the Visitor Information Centre, the Arc Winchester, Winchester City Museum or download a copy from the Winchester BID website. 

Have fun exploring Winchester and return your completed trail sheets to either the Visitor Information Centre, the Arc or the City Museum, where children can instantly redeem a free sweet treat and be entered into a free prize draw to win a Halloween-inspired hamper, filled with lots of great spooky inspired gifts donated by local businesses.

Bookbug sessions are free, fun and friendly events for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families to enjoy together. 
Coming along to sessions is a great way to spend some quality time with your little one and gives you the opportunity to share stories, songs and rhymes with other parents/carers and their children.

Bookbug is Scottish Book Trust’s national Early Years programme. 
As a national charity, Scottish Book Trust delivers the Bookbug programme locally by working in partnership with local library and education services, the health service and third sector organisations. 
To support local delivery of the Bookbug programme, Scottish Book Trust provides its partners with training, advice and Bookbug bags of books.
