Hullavington: Charity family disco at The Village Hall - Sat 11 Oct

 

Tildi Parry & Fliss Harraway are doing a final push to raise money for The Little Princess Trust.

The DJ is booked and both girls are due to have their hair cut earlier that day and hope, not only to donate over 11inches of hair each, but also raise as much money as possible to allow the wigs to be made.

Tickets are £5 per child and there will be a bar, tuck shop and hot dogs available on the night! (All children will need to be accompanied.)

Every year The Courtyard hosts Herefordshire’s Family Festival. During October Half Term you can find all manner of fun activites, shows and experiences suited to all the family. This year it’s our 10th anniversary so we’re throwing back to our first ever theme: Myths and Legends!

On Wednesday 29 October we are celebrating our Family Fun Day starting on The Cathedral Green with a spectacular parade to The Courtyard, this fun-packed day is the perfect half-term day out! For one day only, The Courtyard is taken over with family-friendly workshops, activities, performances and films - this year, all inspired by legendary tales and mythical creatures! Hereford: Viking Activity Day



Ever wondered what it would be like to live as a Viking? Then why not come along to Herefordshire Museums & Galleries’ Viking Activity Day, taking place in Ewyas Harold on 4 October!

Organised as part of the ‘Revealing our Roots’ project, our team will be at Ewyas Harold Craft Centre (HR2 0EL) from 10am-4pm on 4 October. They look forward to welcoming you to a fun-filled Viking-themed day, suitable for all the family and free of charge for you to attend.

At the event, you will be able to follow a mysterious rune trail (runes were used by Vikings for writing and magical purposes).

Meet real Vikings with the fearsome Black Crows, a Hereford-based re-enactment group who recreate the Viking period in authentic and exciting ways.

Play Viking games and handle incredible replicas of ancient treasures, including those from Herefordshire’s most dramatic and scandalous discoveries such as the Herefordshire Hoard.

Take part in a vibrant community art project and get creative with family-friendly craft activities
Hunt for artefacts with the Herefordshire Searchers, a local group of metal detectorists
Have a go at woodturning with the Herefordshire Woodturners.

Discover local history and geography with Longtown and District Historical Society and the Golden Valley Walking Club.

Aldershot: Reading Force will explore the meaning of Armistice Day Tuesday 11th November 1800hrs to 1930hrs

     

A Charity event organised ty Reading Force will mark and explore the meaning of Armistice Day. It will be held in the evening from 1800hrs to 1930hrs on Tuesday 11th November. 

Dame Penelope Keith and Janet Ellis will read from a selection of poetry and prose curated by Professor Jane Potter, Chair of the Wilfred Owen Association and trustee of the Wilfred Owen Estate, and the founder and director of Reading Force Professor Alison Baverstock. There will be musical interludes from a talented young trumpeter, Ben Tugendhat.

The Reading Force charity connects military families (at all life-stages) through shared-reading, in the process boosting their confidence and wellbeing - and keeping everyone in touch. Reading Force began in Aldershot in 2011.

 Tickets are available free, but a retiring collection will be held. For more information and to book a place.
