Newcastle & Northumberland: The Armed Forces Outreach Service

Are you looking to relocate or move to the North East? Do you need assistance with social housing?

The Armed Forces Outreach Service, is a regional service covering an area just under 8000km². Managed by Gateshead Council, the service works in partnership with Northumberland, County Durham and Newcastle councils and Believe Housing, the largest social housing provider in County Durham.
Embedded within the housing departments of those 4 Local Authorities, we work with serving members of the Armed Forces, Reservists and Veterans (regardless of time served and reason for discharge) and family members of these groups. We can assist with a number of issues including Housing, Benefits, Employment, Health & Wellbeing, Schooling and Financial.

All AFOS staff are ex Forces, meaning we possess a unique empathy with our client base, as we too have been on that journey and transitioned from military to civilian life and understand the pain and complexities attached to this. All AFOS staff are SSAFA caseworkers, meaning we are able to act as a conduit between the client and the service charity, allowing for a speedier and more streamlined resolution to any case where a client is seeking financial assistance.
