Leuchars: St Athenase Church Leuchars upcoming events for May and June

East Fife Male Voice Choir - Sunday 12th May

The Regeneration Fundraising Committee of St Athernase, Church of Scotland, Leuchars are looking forward to welcoming back The East Fife Male Voice Choir who will be presenting a Concert in St Athernase on Sunday 12th May.

The Choir was formed in 1957 in the Wemyss area of Fife initially with a strong connection to the mining community. Today the Choir consists of approximately 40 members.
Marilyn Bolton, Musical Director of the Choir, was, for16 years, Musical Director at St Leonards School in St Andrews. She is an accomplished pianist, harpist and clarsach player as well as a conductor of choirs and orchestras.
The Choir's accompanist is Callum MacLeod, who taught music in Fife for 35 years. He is well known in Fife as an organist and pianist but also plays percussion, double bass and tuba. He is one of the few carillonneurs in Scotland and frequently plays the 27 bell carillon in Holy Trinity Church in St Andrews.
The Choir will present a varied programme of classical, religious and contemporary music in what promises to be a most enjoyable and entertaining afternoon. Those of you who came to their last concert at St Athernase will remember how much we all enjoyed ourselves.
The Concert will commence at 2.30pm with the doors to the church opening at

2.00pm. Tickets will be £10.00 for adults and there is no charge for children, although donations will be very welcome. The ticket price includes refreshments at the interval.

Plant Sale - Saturday 25th May

Following the successful inaugural Plant Sale at St Athernase last year, The Regeneration Fundraising Committee for St Athernase has decided to once again hold a plant sale and open the church to the public on Saturday 25th May from 1.00 till 4.00pm.

A selection of shrubs, and plants, are being cultivated, as I write, by members of the congregation so that we can offer a tempting selection at reasonable prices.
The Coach House next to the church will be open during the plant sale for refreshments and also for the sale of craft works made by the Craft Group that meets every Monday afternoon in the Burnside Hall, Balmullo.
So many people pass by and are perhaps unfamiliar with St Athernase, this will be an opportunity to have a free conducted tour of our church which dates back to the 12th century and is considered to be one of Scotland's finest architectural gems.

All monies raised will be donated to the Regeneration Fund for St Athernase.
