New MOD booklet 'benefits and support for Reserve families'

Today, Defence launches a new booklet for Reservists, and their families, on the benefits and support available. This includes financial discounts, healthcare, and career support.

Did you know that of the 190,170 total serving military personnel in the British Armed Forces, 18% of them are Reservists? This means that the Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of Armed Forces personnel.

Reservists make a critical contribution in the Armed Forces and are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas. Keep reading to find out more about what Reservists do, and how they make a positive impact in the Armed forces.

Do you know what support and benefits are available?

Today, Defence has published a new booklet outlining key benefits, services, and support for Reservists and their families. This includes:

  • Healthcare, including mental health and welfare support.
  • Information and support services.
  • Military and financial discounts, childcare, and other family friendly policies.
  • Career and employment support. For more information, read Defence’s recently published booklet on GOV.UK.

Chepstow: Learn Lifesaving Skills this September

Tuesday 17 & 24 September, 1900 - 2100hrs

Bulwark Community Centre, Laburnum Way, Chepstow, NP15 5RF

Places are limited so please contact Tanya ahead of the session.

Email: tanya.davies@caldicot.sjaw.org.uk

There's still spaces left on the free 2 hour first aid courses running in September. 17th September is almost full but 24th September has more spaces.

For anyone looking to learn more first aid skills than we can fit into 2 hours you could join us as a volunteer first aider. You could chose to learn more advanced techniques beyond what's covered on a 3 day First Aid at Work course. You can progress as far as you want to. Once you've completed your basic first aid training there's opportunities to volunteer to provide first aid cover at all sorts of events; local community events, county and national events and some of the sports and music events at the stadiums in Cardiff.

St Athan: FREE junior social tennis starts back up Tuesday Sept 10th

This is a supervised social session NOT a coaching session. Parents must stay on site but we have a warm place to sit with tea and coffee making facilities. Due to insurance reasons children under 6 are not permitted.

Fill in the form to sign up

How does to work?

Under 10s and those new to tennis come along at 5pm. We'll do some warm up exercises and practice some ball skills on court building up to ball control and hitting back and forth.

Over 10s hitting on full court come along at 5.45pm and we'll get some games going. It's chance to practice the skills you've learned in your coaching sessions and play some proper games in a supervised environment with your tennis mates.

Balls and racquets can be provided.

All we ask is that children listen carefully to Dawn who is running the session, follow her instructions, respect each other and enjoy themselves.
