Stafford: Staffordshire smart alert - Lovely weather – but does your dog really need to come along?

Lovely weather – but does your dog really need to come along? 🐶
We know how tempting it is to bring your four-legged friend out and about when the sun’s shining and the temperatures rising – but please, don’t leave them in the car, not even for “just a minute”.

Even with the windows 'cracked' (left) open, cars can become dangerously hot very quickly – far hotter than it feels outside. It’s simply not safe, and sadly, we’re still seeing a few cases locally where dogs are being left in vehicles on warm days like today.

A few things to bear in mind:

🥵 Dogs can’t cool down like we do – they overheat fast.

👮🏻‍♂ If we come across a dog in distress in a hot car, we will act to protect its welfare – and that could mean breaking a window to get them out.

Let’s keep our furry companions safe, cool, and happy 👍🏻

No panting, just tail-wagging – and everyone gets to enjoy the sunshine! 🌞🐾
