Northern Ireland: Department of Education Announce Childcare Subsidy Scheme from 1st September

 

From 1st September 2025, the scheme will be extended to include school age children up to age 11, allowing eligible working parents to receive the 15% subsidy on qualifying costs.

Grantham: South Kesteven bin days are changing from 15th September 2025

 


This applies to all types of collections: For wheelie bin customers – black, silver, purple lidded (and green waste if subscribed) and for sack customers – pink and clear.
South Kesteven District Council Deputy Chief Executive Richard Wyles said: “The new collections will start on Monday 15th September and householders still need to put their bins out by 7.30am on the correct day for their new collection.
“It is the first large scale change to bin collection rounds in South Kesteven for 12 years so we urge everyone to read the information we’re supplying and work together to help us make a success of this change.”

Northern Ireland: From Basra to Helmand Veterans Event - Thursday 25th September

 
Calling All Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans

Following the success of last year’s From Basra to Helmand event, the Northern Ireland Veteran Commissioner’s Office is proud to announce another bespoke gathering specifically for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns.

This event aims to bring together like-minded veterans from this era, many of whom are hard to reach or may feel underrepresented in the wider veteran community.

Blandford: The Royal Signals Museum - Kids go free this summer


The Royal Signals Museum is thrilled to offer a KIDS GO FREE promotion throughout the summer holidays, inviting families to explore the exciting world of military communications - past, present, and future!

Up to Saturday 6th September 2025, children aged under 16 go FREE with a paying adult. Located in Blandford Camp, Dorset, the Museum is packed with hands-on exhibits and interactive displays designed to engage and inspire curiosity.

Plus, every Wednesday in August the Museum will be providing taster sessions of its STEM education sessions. Kids will get an opportunity to code robotic vehicles, learn Morse code and break real-world Second World War secret codes.
