With February half term fast approaching, social networking becomes even more popular among young people. Social media applications are constantly evolving and sometimes it is difficult to keep track of the apps your child uses and the people that they are connecting with.
Social media can come with some risks; by understanding and helping your child to understand these risks you can ensure their safety online.
Things you can do:
· Talk to your child about who they are talking to online and what they might be viewing
· Set parental controls on your child’s devices
· Discuss privacy settings, blocking functions and tagging settings to ensure their online safety
· Check if any of their apps have ‘geo-location’
