Fife: The Ruby Boots Project, a peer support network aiming to support children and young people whose parent/guardian is leaving the armed forces.

The Ruby Boots Project is a peer support network aiming to support children and young people whose parent/guardian is leaving the armed forces. There are various challenges that young people may experience during this transition, so they have designed this project to tackle this.

If you are a child or young person from a veteran/soon-to-be veteran family, or an adult who would be interested in volunteering to help facilitate these group sessions, please get in touch at heather.douglas@forceschildrenscotland.org.uk

We would love to hear from you.

Fife: Fife Carers vacancy for part time parent carer support worker, closing date Wed 11th June

This is a new and exciting post within Fife Carers Centre, made possible by funding from The National Lottery for an initial period of three years.

This role will involve delivering sensitive, person-centred support to unpaid parent and guardian carers who are caring for children or young people with additional needs. It will focus on promoting their physical and mental wellbeing by providing a comprehensive information service that empowers parent carers to make informed decisions about their emotional, physical, and financial health. This includes offering one-to-one support to help parent carers navigate the complex caring role and access the services and resources they need.

This role will assist parent carers in identifying and working towards their personal goals through the Adult Carer Support Planning process. In addition, it will provide benefit checks, support with benefit applications, and offer a compassionate listening ear during challenging times.

The role will also involve developing a strong awareness of, and building collaborative relationships with, local organisations and services—including health, education, and social care partners—to ensure parent carers receive holistic and coordinated support.

Closing date: noon on Wednesday, 11th June 2025
Interview dates: Friday, 20th June 2025
