Forces Pension Society Online Armed Forces Pension Update - 25 June 25

25 JUNE 12:30-13:30 - SAVE THE DATE!

The FPS will deliver an online Armed Forces Pensions update for Serving Personnel, Veterans and Dependants at 12:30 on Wednesday 25 June via MS Teams.

It will cover:
  • The latest on the 2015 Remedy (McCloud) implementation.
  • A reminder of how pension benefits are/were earned during service and the ages that deferred pensions are paid.
  • When and how the pension benefits increase.
  • How to obtain a pension forecasts whilst serving or as a Veteran.
  • Dependants Benefits.
  • When and how to claim a deferred pension.

The Role:

As a Maintenance Worker for our Libraries and Community Hubs, you'll work closely with the Lead Technician to maintain our buildings, taking on various maintenance and repair tasks, as well as larger projects like library refurbishments. Flexibility is key, as your workload will vary depending on the projects at hand, however you'll be given at least 2-4 weeks’ notice of your shifts, allowing you to plan ahead. You'll have the chance to directly influence the look and feel of libraries, creating safe and welcoming spaces for the community.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out minor maintenance and repairs to buildings, furniture, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
  • Patching/touching up of decoration to maintain high standards.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of buildings, grounds, and equipment, and carrying out heavy cleaning tasks as required.
  • Travelling across the county using a Luton van to reach different libraries.
  • Moving furniture and heavy/bulky equipment.
  • Complying with all relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
