Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund - new awards to support Service children along their educational pathway

 

The Armed Forces Covenant Trust (the Trust) excited to announce the first awards made under the Service Pupil Support Programme – an MOD funded programme, which is part of the Armed Forces Families Fund. Over £1,700,000 has been awarded to 46 fantastic projects which will deliver real change to Armed Forces communities by improving the educational pathway of Service children and helping to address the challenges they can face.

Going Forward into Employment (GFiE) - latest nationwide Civil Service job vacancies (grades AO to SEO) for Service Leavers, Veterans and Spouses/Partners

 

Several new vacancies have been released under the Going Forward into Employment (GFiE) scheme, which are in numerous nationwide locations, and HEO/SEO grade vacancies are available also in this tranche.

To be eligible for the GFiE scheme you must meet the following criteria: Have served within the Armed Forces for at least 1 year.
  • Be within 5 years of leaving the Armed Forces.
  • Be within 10 years if you have been medically discharged.
  • Be in your resettlement period and due to leave the Armed Forces within the next 6 months
  • Military Spouse/Partner: Your current partner must still be serving OR fall within either of the above categories.

Move to Universal Credit update
September's expansion of Move to Universal Credit (UC) activity to move claimants on legacy benefits to UC will see work commence in:

· Cumbria and Lancashire

· Essex

· Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight

· Southwest Wales

· East Scotland

· Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire & Rutland

October will see work beginning in:

· Southeast Wales

· Central Scotland

We are continuing with our small-scale discovery phase for tax credit couples, learning and adapting to ensure couples can make a claim to UC effectively, before we increase numbers later this year.

From September we are commencing a separate small-scale discovery phase with other legacy benefit combinations, to support our preparation to move households on different combinations of legacy benefits at scale in 2024/25.

MOD Accommodation Team - We want your views on the provision of furniture in Service Family Accommodation (SFA)!


The MOD Accommodation Team are reviewing what items of furniture (for example, beds, settees, bookcases etc.) are provided to you in SFA and how furniture provision could be improved for you and Defence.

We want to find out:
  • Your experience of furnishing SFA
  • What furniture provision you may want and need in the future
Your participation in our research provides a key opportunity for you to shape future furniture provision for the entire Armed Forces!

Your views are very important to us, regardless of whether you have used MOD furniture provision or not.

Trigger Warning: Domestic abuse can lead to a person feeling like there is no escape and having suicidal thoughts. 30% of suspected suicides in Kent and Medway have domestic abuse as a factor (@KentPolice).

Support services are there for anyone experiencing abuse and can provide practical and emotional support including refuge, safe accommodation, specialist programmes and 1-2-1 help.
