Fife: SSAFA Fife are looking for a new Branch Chairperson

Our friendly team here in SSAFA Fife are looking for a new Branch Chair.

Could you be the lead and public face for the local SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity services and support a small team of dedicated volunteers in Fife?

SSAFA Fife Branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers who visit Veterans and their families across Fife and support them with financial, emotional or practical support coordinated by the Branch executive team.

You don't need a military background for this role, but you should be empathic to the needs of the Armed Forces community, have some experience of managing people and possess good I.T. skills, essential for this role.

The Branch Chair oversees all aspects of the branch, coordinates regular branch meetings and 1-1 support for volunteers. Ultimately accountable to the Chair of the Board of Trustees, your role is to ensure that the branch is running in line with SSAFA's rules, regulations, and policies.
You will also ensure that clients and volunteers are safe, all services provided are appropriate and effective and that the branch is financially sound.

The applicant can operate from home (a laptop will be provided) and he/she can be located anywhere in Fife but should be able to come into the Kirkcaldy office, to meet & speak with key volunteers.
Training will be provided.

George Givens, the present incumbent is stepping down after five year in the role. George said “It has been a pleasure to work with such a dedicated team of volunteers who provide, in some cases, a lifeline for serving personnel, veterans, and their families. The Fife Branch is one of the busiest in Scotland and our President is the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Robert Balfour. As Chair of the Fife Branch I attend regular meetings with others Branch Chairs from across the Scottish Region, liaise with serving personnel at Leuchars Station, attend awareness events throughout the Kingdom of Fife, and run bi-monthly team meetings. I am able supported by a Branch Treasurer, a Casework Manager, and a Volunteer Co-ordinator. I would thoroughly recommend the post to anyone who would like to remain active and who enjoys helping others”
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
