Join our Independent Advisory Group

Why you?

We are asking for people who reflect the composition of our communities and who have an interest in North Yorkshire. We are encouraging people from all communities and backgrounds to come forward and help North Yorkshire Police keep your local area a safe place to work and live.

We are looking for people who care about their community and want to be involved. The only requirement is being able receive, send emails and join our on-line meetings. Having a criminal record or being of no fixed address does not mean you cannot take part.

How often?

Don't worry – we're not asking you to attend lengthy monthly meetings or anything like that. It's a virtual group and everything will be done via email, surveys or online. We might just ask that you provide your feedback within a set timescale.

The group meetings will be held virtually as and when needed, but at least quarterly. We will communicate with you using Community Messaging and email. Meetings will be held on-line but on certain occasions face to face meetings may be required.

What?

By joining the IAG you'll be invited to provide feedback and opinions on issues such as critical incidents, operational practices, force policies and procedures and the impact they may have on your area.

By working with us, your feedback and guidance will help us to shape our policing response, benefiting your local communities and beyond.

Make a difference

As a member of our panel you will be vital in giving us an impartial view and opinion on a variety of issues. Although we cannot always act on everything, we will always value your ideas and input.

If you're interested in joining our virtual IAG please email sharon.diamond@northyorkshire.police.uk and give us an idea of why you'd like to take part, a summary of your experience and interests and links to your community. Please also include your location within North Yorkshire.

We look forward to hearing from you and working together to keep North Yorkshire safe.

Thank you for taking the time to review.
