Little Troopers free summer adventure for military teens in Rutland: Applications now open

From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st July the charity Little Troopers is coming to Rutland to host a free summer adventure weekend for military teenagers aged 13-16.

Part of the charity’s All Together club, the aim of the programme is to bring together teenagers who might not know each other but all share similar experiences having grown up in the forces community.

Held at Shacklewell Hollow, the teenagers will get to enjoy lots of outdoor activities including giant go-karts, bushcraft, climbing, target shooting and playing on the water slides!

Applications are now open for a place on the two-night residential and any tri-service and reservist families. The weekend is an opportunity for the teens to start their summer holidays by turning their phones off, making new friends and having lots of fun.

Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, said: “Our AllTogether programme is all about recognising that being a military child is a unique experience and that only other children who are going through that or have been through that experience really understand it. This will be our fifth All Together residential in two years and we find the children instantly click and make friendships that last well beyond the weekend.

“We’re exciting to be holding this weekend at the start of the summer holidays when exams are behind everyone and we can just enjoy the activities and make memories these young people will remember forever. Hopefully the sunshine will also make an appearance!”

The Little Troopers All Together residential weekends have been made possible thanks to funding from the Veterans Foundation, Greenwich Hospital, HDH Wills, Henry Sale Foundation and The Prince of Wales Charitable Fund.

The weekend is completely free to attend, but transport is not provided so parents must be able to drop their children off on Friday evening and collect them on Sunday afternoon. If the weekend is oversubscribed, priority will be given to children who have parents on deployment.

Families can apply here.
