Scotland: Sight Scotland Veterans

We've been around since 1915, and we’re here to offer support across Scotland to veterans of the Armed Forces who need support to adapt to sight loss.
Adapting to and learning to live with sight loss can be bewildering, and it can be challenging to know who to turn to in order to get the answers you need. Our team have got the answers. And if they don't, they know where to find them.

Don't lose sense of who you are because of changes to your sight.
Our team provides information and support that will help you stay connected to the things that matter to you and support your loved ones. We’re here to help you thrive.

Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust launches first new Armed Forces Covenant Fund programme for 2024/25 - Serving Families: On the Move

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (the Trust) has launched the first Covenant Fund programme under its exciting three-year Funding Framework.

Serving Families: On the Move is now open for applications for grants of up £120,000 for two-to-three-year projects that will improve the quality of life for Service families impacted by relocation as a direct result of Service life.

The Trust ran a public consultation in 2023, which identified that one of the key areas to focus on was ‘Reducing stress and challenges for Armed Forces families'. This family focused programme will address this aim by strengthening connections with local communities, leading to better support for those facing relocation as a direct result of Service. The consultation findings are available to read on The Trust website.

Catterick: SSAFA Volunteers needed!

SSAFA is looking for volunteers who are passionate about giving back to the Armed Forces community to join its new Serving Community Team at Catterick Garrison. Depending on your preferences and the role you choose, you may assist with fundraising, managing finances, or supporting marketing efforts.

Volunteers can give as much or as little time as they can – the roles are designed to be flexible, as we understand many of our volunteers also have work or family commitments. No experience is necessary for most positions, but a military connection or an understanding of the unique challenges that service personnel and their families face would be excellent.

Volunteering with the SCT at Catterick Garrison is a fantastic way to give back to those who have given so much, and your time can make a world of difference in the lives of our Armed

Forces service personnel and their families. To find out more about volunteering opportunities, please email sct.interest@ssafa.org.uk or Robert.law@sct.ssafa.org.uk
