New awards provide educational support for Service children

New awards provide educational support for Service children

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (the Trust) has announced 21 new awards in the latest round of the Service Pupil Support Programme!

Worth £1.3 million, these projects are set to make a real difference to school-aged Service children across the UK - improving their educational pathways and helping to address the challenges they can face.

Supporting Service pupils across the UK

Part of the MOD’s Armed Forces Families Fund, the Service Pupil Support Programme supports projects which focus on pupils from currently serving families and support them along their educational pathways. The projects supported in this funding round address gaps in educational attainment, support Service pupils with additional needs, and support small cohorts of Service pupils within educational settings.

This year, the Trust has focused on supporting schools working in collaborative clusters of three or more to address the programme’s aims. Many funded projects centre on collaboration between schools to facilitate shared resources and good practice.

A reminder of the help available from the Forces Employment Charity

The Forces Employment Charity exists to provide life-long, life-changing support, job opportunities, and training to Service leavers, veterans, reservists and their families, irrespective of circumstances, rank, length of service, or reason for leaving.

Their Families Programme supports spouses and partners of still-serving personnel and veterans, including divorced, separated, and bereaved, on their journey into employment; regardless of whether you are in the UK or overseas. They understand Service life and transition can impact the whole family, so they also offer mentoring and career guidance to military children and young people aged 16-24.

Their dedicated Families Employment Advisors are military spouses or partners themselves. They understand the challenges and barriers you may be facing including frequent moves, living in relative isolation, childcare, employer reluctance to hire military spouses, getting back onto the employment ladder, having a lack of confidence and returning suddenly to civilian life. They understand the support you require and are here to help you succeed. Register for this free service!
