Dorset: Little Troopers launches All Together family reconnection weekends


The military children’s charity, Little Troopers, has launched a series of free family reconnection weekends for forces families to spend quality-time together.

Funded by Team Forces, the four Little Troopers weekends invite young people and their parents to go away for an exciting few days of outdoor adventure and connection where they’ll be encouraged to put down their phones, meet people, do new things and spend quality time together.

Open to families with up to four siblings aged 9 and over, the weekends will be packed with adventurous activities including coasteering, raft building, kayaking, mega SUPing and coastal bushcraft, as well as time to relax on the beach, watching the sunset with a hot chocolate.

With a mix of child-only and parent-and-child time, the itinerary has been organised so that the small number of five to six families attending will have an enjoyable break and make memories to last a lifetime.

The dates for the Little Troopers All Together reconnection weekends in 2025 are
  • Friday 25th July to Sunday 27th July, Brenscombe, Wareham, Dorset
  • Friday 26th September to Sunday 28th September, Portland, Dorset

The Role:
Join our dedicated team as an Equipment Delivery Driver at Hampshire Equipment Services (HES), supporting adults and children across Hampshire who need additional care. You’ll deliver, build, and install medical equipment for people with disabilities and those recently discharged from hospital. Promoting people’s independence and quality of life you’ll help reduce, avoid or delay the need for ongoing care whilst supporting them to remain living at home.

You’ll mostly operate in Winchester, Eastleigh and Chandlers Ford, however may need to support service users across Hampshire when required. Hampshire Equipment Service is based in Basingstoke, and you’ll need to visit the office each shift to collect/return equipment.

What you’ll do:
  • Deliver and install medical loan equipment promptly.
  • Manage and schedule a busy workload efficiently.
  • Handle heavy objects like bed parts, hoists, chairs, and bath lifts.
  • Drive a Council vehicle.

What we’re looking for:
  • A valid, full UK driving licence with parking facilities at home for a large van (parking permits can be paid for by the council).
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Patience, compassion, and empathy in all interactions. You’ll treat service users with dignity and respect.
  • Physically able to undertake the moving and handling of equipment up to 25KG

Bovington: Summer bus services for Bovington, Lulworth & Wool.

MoreBus "Breezer" summer bus services 30 & 31 begin running every day of the week from Saturday 24th May 2025. The Breezer 30 and 31 services will be similar to last year.

FirstBus "Coaster" summer bus services commence the next day, on Sunday 25th May 2025.
 
Coaster X54 will be similar to last year, except that the route will extend beyond Wareham to Swanage. First's open-top service X50 does not run this year; instead, they've introduced a new service "55".

The four bus services for summer 2025 are summarised below:

Breezer 30 runs between Weymouth and Swanage, roughly one an hour, calling at Osmington, Winfrith, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Wool station, Wareham town and station, Corfe Castle and Swanage. Some journeys start/end at Dorchester.

Breezer 31 runs in an anticlockwise circle from Wool station, calling at Winfrith, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. On schooldays, the service ends at around 13:30. On other days, the service runs on through the afternoon and there's an extra late journey compared to last year.

Coaster X54 runs between Weymouth and Swanage, roughly one every 2 hours, calling at Osmington, Winfrith, Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Wool station, Wareham town and station, Corfe Castle and Swanage.

Coaster 55 shuttles hourly between Lulworth Cove and Bovington, calling at Wool station, the Tank Museum and Monkey World.
