The Northern Ireland Veterans Commissioner’s Office is delighted to once again partner with Linfield Football Club (Official) on this years Remembrance Weekend.

On Saturday 8th November, we will host a special reception for veterans, who will then be invited to take part in the annual Act of Remembrance at Windsor Park, Belfast, before enjoying the match between Linfield and Coleraine, kicking off at 1730 hrs.

Last year’s event was a memorable occasion, and we look forward to welcoming veterans once again to come together, reflect, and share in this important day.

Registration will be opening soon via our website – keep an eye out for further details.

We hope you can join us for what promises to be a meaningful and enjoyable day.

Moray: Free Advice and Support Sessions during Challenge Poverty Week


As part of Challenge Poverty Week, Dr Gray’s Hospital is hosting a series of free advice and support sessions. Each day, a different organisation will be available to provide information and guidance:

Monday 6 Oct – Moray Council Money Advice (9am – 4pm)
Tuesday 7 Oct – Moray Pathways (9.30am – 4pm)
Wednesday 8 Oct – NHS Dental: Prevent ‘Wobbly’ Teeth (9am – 4pm)
Thursday 9 Oct – The Coat Hangar (9am – 4pm, tbc)
Friday 10 Oct – Home Energy Scotland (10am – 2pm)

These sessions are free and open to everyone. 

No booking is required – please drop in and find out more about the support available locally.

Northern Ireland: Storm Amy School Closures - Education Authority Northern Ireland

 
Emergency Early School Closure - Storm Amy

School Closures Counties Antrim, Londonderry, Tyrone and Fermanagh.

All schools located in the areas affected by the amber weather warning in Northern Ireland are required to close at 12 midday today, Friday 03 October 2025.

This decision has been taken in the interests of the safety of children, young people and staff.

The amber warning covers the western half of Northern Ireland - counties Antrim, Londonderry, Tyrone and Fermanagh.

The Education Authority consulted with the Met Office to ensure there had been no overnight amendments to the alert.

The alert applies to the period 3pm to 8pm today and is warning of a spell of damaging winds on Friday late afternoon and evening.

It has cited the potential for power cuts and damage to buildings, including a risk of injuries from flying debris

Every year The Courtyard hosts Herefordshire’s Family Festival. During October Half Term you can find all manner of fun activites, shows and experiences suited to all the family. This year it’s our 10th anniversary so we’re throwing back to our first ever theme: Myths and Legends!

On Wednesday 29 October we are celebrating our Family Fun Day starting on The Cathedral Green with a spectacular parade to The Courtyard, this fun-packed day is the perfect half-term day out! For one day only, The Courtyard is taken over with family-friendly workshops, activities, performances and films - this year, all inspired by legendary tales and mythical creatures! Barry: Free course - Teaching Adults Level 3 starting from 07 Oct at Palmerston Learning Centre

Teaching Adults Level 3

This is a 10-credit level 3 accredited course that aims to develop the knowledge and skills for those interested in the rewarding profession of teaching adults. The course explores the roles and responsibilities of adult education tutors, effective teaching and learning methods, and diverse learning styles. It raises awareness of the essential skills needed to be an effective teacher of adults and to motivate students. Students will create a portfolio and deliver a presentation for assessment at the end of the course. The course also provides a progression route to the PCET teaching course.

Date & time: Tuesdays 18:00-20:00, starting 7/10/25 until 16/12/25 (with a break for half term)
