Stafford: Staffordshire network for mental health volunteering opportunities

Staffordshire Network for Mental Health are looking for volunteers who can help and support military personnel, veterans and their families, by using their own experiences.

We are looking for veterans & serving personnel that may be interested in helping those in need and where we can help them by giving them work experience and paid training qualifications.

The military volunteering role would involve:-

● Working 1 to 1 with one or more service users/veterans who have already had a toolbox session with one of our toolbox workers.

● Making regular contact with service users over the phone, in person or other communication channels if needed.

● Providing a supportive and listening ear and helping them work towards their goals set by the toolbox worker.

● Using your own skills and techniques to provide ideas and encouragement to improve aspects of their life.

● Reporting back to our Mental Health Ambassador and the Toolbox worker that made the initial contact on a monthly basis to update on achievements, positive stories and any concerns or questions.

● Using local knowledge to encourage service users to join local community groups or organisations.

● Providing a listening ear for service users worries and concerns and remain impartial during times of high emotion, anger and worry.

When volunteering for our charity you will get:

· Experience in the charity sector and in mental health.

· Employment skills

· Training

· Local Networking in all sectors

· Development Opportunities

· Out of pocket expenses

To access all of our training and networking opportunities, we would like the volunteer to spend around 4 hours a week volunteering with us. This includes giving back to their community by supporting one of our projects and services.
