The Role:

Join our Libraries and Community Hubs as a Maintenance Worker to help maintain safe, welcoming spaces for the public. Working alongside the Lead Technician, you’ll carry out repairs, support refurbishments and travel across the county using a Luton van.

What you’ll do:
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on buildings, furniture and equipment.
  • Support decoration touch-ups and heavy cleaning tasks.
  • Move furniture and heavy/bulky items as needed.
  • Use digital systems to plan and record work.
  • Travel between sites to support different libraries.

What we’re looking for
  • Practical experience in DIY-style maintenance and repairs.
  • A flexible approach to varied workloads and schedules.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Comfortable using digital tools.
  • Experienced driver with a full, clean driving licence.
How you’ll work: 
  • Your total hours are spread flexibly across the year, rather than worked to a fixed weekly schedule.
  • You’ll receive a shift rota 2-4 weeks in advance, helping you plan around personal commitments.
  • Monthly hours may vary, but your pay remains consistent – evenly distributed across the year.
