Staffordshire: Staffordshire smart alert - Ask for Angela? Be safe wherever you are

Ask for Angela? Be safe wherever you are.

If you're on a night out and maybe….

Feeling Unsafe?

Need a safe way out?

On a date that isn't working out?

Something not feeling right?

The Ask for Angela initiative aims to ensure that anyone who is feeling vulnerable or unsafe is able to get help and support discreetly. This could be on a night out, on a date or meeting friends.

The initiative works by training staff in vulnerability management and what to do when someone ‘Asks for Angela’. When someone asks for Angela, the trained member of staff will understand the person is in need of help and support and will be able to respond in an appropriate, discreet way. This could be offering them an alternative way out of the venue, calling them a taxi, or in a more serious situation alerting venue security and/or calling the Police.

Please pass this information on to friends and family, it might help them in their time of need.

Grantham: Whisby Nature Park

Whisby Nature Park is a beautiful landscape near Lincoln, full of wildlife, walks and trails. Once barren and lifeless, this amazing place now abounds with wildlife. The park was created by quarrying for sand and gravel, but nature has reclaimed the pits and bare sand, creating habitats for many species.

Wiltshire: Wiltshire Council Family Hub 'Family Navigator' drop-in time changes

Please click image to enlarge

Alongside their parenting programmes and one-to-one outreach support in the home, Wiltshire Council Family Hub also have a team of Family Navigators who are available in different locations at different times throughout the week so that you can drop in and get the help that you are looking for.

This could be:
  • Helping you find groups for you or your children in the community such as toddler groups, youth groups, adult learning opportunities and community events etc.
  • Linking you in with organisations who can help with things like debt advice, housing support, mental and emotional wellbeing, volunteering and health advice. If you’re not yet feeling too confident to ‘go it alone’ then our family navigators will help with that too.
  • Providing a listening ear when you don’t know where to go next and the things you are trying aren’t quite working.
  • Supporting you to complete applications for pre-school, school or colleges and any other paperwork related to family life, because some of it is more complicated that it needs to be!

You can also view the above calendar on the Wiltshire Council Family Hub website.

(Please note that occasionally dates and time can be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Please check the Facebook page before travelling)
