It’s here: Global Mobility Allowance trial begins
It’s here: Global Mobility Allowance trial begins
From 1 July, eligible Service personnel are now invited to register for a new overseas allowance that offers an easier claims process and greater flexibility on spending.
Global Mobility Allowance (GMA) is being trialled as a new way to receive a financial contribution towards expenses that arise when you move to or from an overseas permanent assignment in:
• Brunei – 2 Royal Gurkha Rifles (2RGR) and Brunei Garrison Staff (incl. 667 Sqn, 5AAC) only
• USA – British Defence Staff US (BDSUS) administered locations only
• Kenya – British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) Garrison Staff only
• Europe/ Rest of World (RoW) – Global Support Organisation (GSO) administered locations only
The new Global Mobility Allowance Calculator (accessible via defnet or Defence Connect) gives a real-time, tailored estimate of the GMA allowance you will receive, and a comparison of GMA trial versus non-trial allowances.
The tool simplifies what would be a complex and time-consuming calculation process and enables you to make informed decisions about your assignment – including considerations on family support, cost of living and financial planning.

Stafford: Staffordshire smart alert - Raising awareness of county lines

We’re reaching out to local communities across Staffordshire to raise awareness of county lines so we can all work together to help protect those most vulnerable to exploitation.
If you’re not sure what county lines are, here’s a quick explanation.
Criminal gangs often target vulnerable young people and exploit them into carrying or distributing drugs, normally outside of the area they live in.
As the drugs cross county boundaries, this type of activity is called ‘county lines’.
Young people may not realise that they are being groomed into county lines drug distribution as criminal gangs use the lure of gifts or cash, and before they realise it the young person can find themselves trapped in a dangerous situation.
This grooming can occur online or face-to-face and may involve a stranger or someone they already know.
If you want to know more, take a look at our latest news story about county lines here: Spot the signs of county lines exploitation in the young and vulnerable | Staffordshire Police

About Creature Chronicles 'Tales from the Vale'
As the waves lap the shore of the cliffed coastline and the breeze swirls and spirals through the treetops, the creatures of the Vale spring to life. Scurrying and scampering ripple through the landscape, but who could be making these sounds?
This Summer, it’s time for creatures great and small to share their treasured tales with human kind. Make sure you’re truly listening - for some of these species may need a little help.
The Creature Chronicles is a collection of stories developed and designed by Louby Lou’s Storytelling, to share the important tales of endangered species who reside in the Vale. Suitable for families, a series of pop up events will be taking place across the six weeks holidays for you to enjoy and engage in. The collection includes a mixture of outdoor theatre performances, walkabout acts and promenade storytelling trails, across some of the Vale’s most beautiful landscapes.
