As we welcome the lighter days and look ahead to Easter and early summer, here’s a round‑up of news, events and updates from across the Vale:

New Llwybr Cymru Trail – First Section Opens in Porthkerry

The first 80km section of the Llwybr Coedwig Cymru Trail, part of the National Forest for Wales, officially launched in Porthkerry Country Park earlier this month.

This new long‑distance route celebrates Welsh nature, woodland and local heritage. Find out more: Llwybr Coedwig Cymru Trail | GOV.WALES

If you're out and about across the Vale this Easter you might also notice we have upgraded the public toilet facilities at Porthkerry Country Park and Cosmeston Lakes Country Park recently with further upgrades underway in our four main town centres:
  • Llantwit Major - complete
  • Cowbridge - complete,
  • Barry - underway,
  • Penarth - coming soon

Fife: Cafe Inc is back in your are for the School holidays 6th April to Friday 17th April

CafĂ© Inc will be back across Fife during the Easter holidays (Monday 6 – Friday 17 April) for children and young people under 18.

It provides free tasty, healthy meals while our schools are closed. Please be aware that meals are only available while stocks last.

No need to book, just turn up.

Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Any adult accompanying a child (under and over 10) can also have a meal if they wish, subject to availability.

ABF and LVC Joint Curry Quiz Night

After last years successful joint curry and quiz night we are doing it again.

Lothians Veterans Centre and ABF Scotland are having a joint fundraiser at the award winning Bombay Lounge in Dalkeith on Thursday 23rd April 2026. £5 a ticket at the link below.

If you’d like your garden waste bin(s) emptied fortnightly during 2026, you’ll need to subscribe to our garden waste service.

The service costs £42.50 per bin for 2026, covering up to 23 fortnightly collections from late January/early February to mid-December, regardless of when you sign up.
