Richmondshire Energy Improvement scheme
Richmondshire District Council has announced funding to keep homes warm and energy bills low through the Richmondshire Energy Improvement scheme.
The scheme aims to help households to deal with high energy bills amidst the increase of the Government’s Energy Price Guarantee which will take effect in April resulting in a 20% rise in energy bills for the majority of households.
Those who qualify will receive an energy efficiency plan to suit their needs and optimise the impact of the improvements on their home, with insulation installs available as well as heating upgrades.
Installs are fully funded in most cases through a combination of Energy Company Obligation funding and ring-fenced council capital.
To qualify for the scheme, homeowners must have a poor Energy Performance Certificate rating of D or below, and have an income no higher than £31,000 or be in receipt of means tested benefits.
The scheme is also open to private renters with their landlord’s permission, with insulation being available for properties in an EPC band of E or below.
