This course is ideal for anyone wanting to start or return to work and who may be experiencing barriers. The course supports learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that will help them feel both emotionally ready for work and more confident about searching for and starting work.
The course starts with a welcome meeting in Royal Wootton Basset (RWB) on Tuesday 20 January at 10am before the first two sessions in RWB on Tuesday 27 January 10am – 2.30pm (with 30 minute lunch break).
The course is 12 sessions of two hours each, delivered over four weeks, three sessions each week: one full day of two sessions are held in person at RWB Community Rooms on Tuesdays and one online session is held on Thursdays. Each week has a different theme of focus - please see the second image above for a week by week break down.
- Week One. Participants focus on building emotional intelligence, looking at managing emotions and stress, maintaining motivation, and setting goals.
- Week Two. Participants look at developing resilience: they identify their personal strengths, explore stress management tools, and learn positive reframing techniques and how to develop a growth mindset.
- Week Three. The focus of this week is on strengthening interpersonal skills: sessions look at communication skills, empathy, and collaboration skills, providing tools for building positive workplace relationships.
- Week Four. The final week explores teamwork, professional boundaries, and self-reflection; learners are also supported to review and reflect on their learning and produce a plan for their next steps.
