Blandford: Garrison youth club sessions (Inters school yrs 4-6) starts Mon 2nd Feb


Sessions are held on Blandford Camp 
Venue: Semaphore Arms Function Room (located near the WRVS/Junior Rates Cookhouse and WO/Sgts Mess).

For those children that aren’t yet registered, there will be a QR code provided on entry for parents to complete or see below.

Monday Evenings

Year 4 – Year 6

Session: Team games – Dodge ball and Parachute games.

£1 entry, plus money for tuck shop. Juice and water provided

Seniors 

Wednesday evenings

1800 - 1930hrs

School Years 7+

Entry £1 plus money for tuck.

Youth activities, games, team building, tuck shop and more.

Juniors

This session, for children in school years 1 to 3 will return in due course. More information to follow in the coming weeks.

STRICT POLICY: Children Must Be Accompanied

All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older) at all times while on the premises.

Our volunteer staff is not responsible for supervising unattended minors.

Unsupervised children will not be permitted entry or allowed to remain in the building. They will be asked to leave, and no refund will be given.

This is a mandatory requirement that our staff must enforce, and we remind everyone this is By Order of the Deputy Garrison Commander.

Bovington: Tank museum robot wars & daleks event - Sat 7th & Sun 8th Feb

Taking place across the weekend of 7-8 February, the South West Model Show showcases hundreds of model tanks, planes, ships and more - all available to see, make and buy.


Visitors can meet and greet the infamous Daleks during Q&A sessions on both days of the show. Plus, there’s a build-your-own fighting robot workshop, delivered by Team Roaming Robots, the creators of ‘Ripper’ from the hit tv show ‘Robot Wars’. What’s more, visitors can meet some of the robots from the popular show!

Guests can also get hands-on with a model making session provided by Models for Heroes, who support veterans through the therapeutic benefits of the hobby.

Alongside a huge collection of models, for just £3, visitors can enter the modelling competition to be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes. Best in show wins a ride in a tank, and winners of adult and junior categories will receive tickets to TANKFEST 2026, worth £79.90. Entries close at midnight on Wednesday 4 February, and judging will take place at the South West Model Show on Sunday 8 February.

With hands-on activities, demonstrations, and plenty to see and do, this event is perfect for both modelling enthusiasts and families.

New Armed Forces Bill to drive the biggest renewal of Service Family housing in a generation

Service families will benefit from the newly introduced Armed Forces Bill which promises better housing, better services and better protections for our forces and their families.

The Bill will create a new Defence Housing Service, which will have a simple ethos – to put the needs of forces and their families first and drive the biggest improvement in forces accommodation for a generation.

1,000 homes upgraded for military families

Urgent works on 1000 military homes, most in need of refurbishment, have finished ahead of schedule, with a further 250 to be completed by April, 2026. This means that 12 months on from the Consumer Charter launch, we will have increased our initial target by 25%.

Sixteen young people are standing for election, and each one wants to help make Surrey better for children and teens. They bring their own ideas, experiences and a commitment to improving life for young people in Surrey.
