Tayside: Defence Medical Welfare Service awarded 2 year grant enabling expansion of services Tayside

DMWS are excited to have been awarded a two-year grant from The MacRobert Trust. 

This critical funding will allow us to expand our services to Tayside, an area of Scotland where there is great need, and reach more members of the Armed Forces Community who need us.

Gloucestershire: New 'Connect and Offload' wellbeing service

 

The new helpline, ‘Connect and Offload’, or CandO (pronounced ‘can do’) for short is designed to provide support when someone first notices signs and symptoms of their mental health worsening. It will be open to any adult who is experiencing issues with their emotional wellbeing, such as low mood, anxiety, stress and loneliness.

It also includes support and advice for individuals seeking help with self-harm allowing them to receive the support they need, alongside wider support for their overall emotional wellbeing.

Fife: Free Step in courses starting in August 2024

Step In is a practical, fun short course - supported by experienced Fife College lecturers - to help develop your skills, self-esteem and confidence.
 
It provides a range of taster activities that will help you discover and develop your talents in a supportive, stress-free and relaxed environment. 

This is an ideal course for those wishing to progress into further education or employment or volunteering.

This part time programme runs for 18 weeks and is delivered in partnership with Fife Council in your local learning centre. 

There is also the opportunity to gain accreditation in Food Hygiene and First Aid. 

Travel and Childcare costs may be applied for (this course does not affect any benefits).

These courses start at the end of August and run until the end of January. 

It is 9 hours per week for 18 weeks (3 x half days per week).

Vale of Glamorgan: Short Breaks Wales for unpaid carers


Funded short breaks for unpaid carers in Wales

Funded by Welsh Government, the Short Breaks Scheme is a new initiative to support unpaid carers of all ages in Wales to take a break from their caring role.

A short break is more than just a yoga class or an overnight stay in a hotel, it is a chance for carers to de-stress and recharge. It offers a break from the daily challenges of caring for a family member or friend.
