The Duke of York's Royal Military School Celebrates Outstanding A Level and BTEC Results
Students at The Duke of York's Royal Military School are celebrating another year of excellent A Level and BTEC results, with strong performances across a wide range of academic and vocational subjects.
This year's results showcase the strength of the school's provision, with over half of students achieving A*-B grades and the average grade across the cohort being a B.
Principal Alex Foreman said: “These results are a testament to the hard work, determination, and resilience of our students, supported every step of the way by dedicated teachers, boarding staff and the wider school community.
"We are proud to be a school that continues to go from strength to strength, where ambition is matched by exceptional care and support. At the heart of our success is our boarding ethos, which gives young people a real sense of belonging, stability, and confidence. It provides the time, structure, and encouragement to develop not only academically, but personally as well.
"Our aim is always to act in the best interests of our ‘Dukies’, helping them leave us with strong qualifications, character, independence and the confidence to thrive in whatever path they choose next. This year's leavers are now preparing to take their next steps, with many progressing to higher education, degree apprenticeships, specialist training and professional careers. The breadth and quality of opportunities available to this cohort reflects the strong foundation they have built during their time at the school and the wide-ranging possibilities these results have created.
Small class sizes, expert teaching and an extensive co-curricular programme ensure students leave the school equipped not only with strong academic outcomes, but also with the leadership, independence and resilience needed to flourish in higher education, apprenticeships and the workplace.

Richmond: Walking & Book Festival 18th - 27th Sept
Details of our programme for the 21st Richmond Walking and Books Festival are now available.
You can browse all walks and events by looking at the Whole Programme page, or find events available on a particular date by looking at the relevant page for that day.
As well as our main programme, which starts on Friday 18th September, we have some children's events at local libraries during the school summer holiday on Wednesday 5th August.
There are a wide range of walks across our area, many of them new to the Festival and, with many of them including added interest as we walk, there is sure to be something to suit everyone who loves the great outdoors.
And our varied book programme, and other related events, means there will be plenty to stimulate you, with a wide range of daytime and evening events covering both fiction and non-fiction genres..
We look forward to seeing you in September at a Festival that always receives great feedback from those attending

Blackpool: Ride The Lights - 1st September 2026 - 7pm-10pm
Get on your bike and Ride The Lights! An exciting preview of Blackpool Illuminations is officially taking place on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
The Ride The Lights event is one of the most magical nights in Blackpool’s calendar when, for one night only, the six miles of Promenade will be closed to give thousands of cyclists an opportunity to get a sneak preview of the Illuminations before the official switch-on later that week (4 September). Ride at any point along the promenade from Starr Gate at South Shore to Red Bank Road in Bispham. You can ride as much or as little of the route as you are able.
Why not join in the creative fun by designing your very own Illuminations display on your bike? Decorate your ride with colourful lights, lamps and lanterns to show off your illuminations design ideas. Light your ride... then ride the lights!
Times: 7pm-10pm
Ride The Lights is not a bike race, it's a fun and FREE bike ride open to all. A great opportunity to get out and about on your bike with both family and friends.

Blackpool: Illumination Switch On - 4th September 2026
British pop favourites Five are set to make sure Everybody Get Up for the biggest night in the resort’s calendar, as they take centre stage at this year’s Illuminations Switch‑On.
The free outdoor event on the Tower Festival Headland, in the shadow of The Blackpool Tower, takes place on Friday 4 September 2026 and marks the start of the iconic Illuminations season.
Five will be joined by rock quintet The Feeling and chart‑topping singer‑songwriter Lucy Spraggan.
This year’s event sees VisitBlackpool collaborate with the BBC, with the evening hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire presenters Graham Liver and Sharon Hartley.
As part of the collaboration, BBC Radio Lancashire will also showcase some of the region’s most exciting up-and-coming talent through BBC Introducing. We can’t wait!
Pulling the switch to light up Blackpool will be BBC Radio 2’s Paddy McGuinness. He's one of the UK’s most recognisable television and radio personalities, is no stranger to Blackpool. He has previously performed at both the Winter Gardens and the Grand Theatre, filmed an episode of Top Gear in the resort and cycled through the town as part of his BBC Children in Need fundraising challenge.
