The first Medieval Hereford Festival event will feature thrilling battle re-enactments, where armoured warriors clash in dramatic displays of medieval combat, alongside a fully interactive “living village” showcasing traditional crafts, trades and daily life from centuries past.
Visitors will also be able to step back in time with period entertainment, costumed performers, and historical demonstrations, including the chance to see – and perhaps experience – the medieval stocks.

FREE fun and welcoming sessions for primary aged children

Join us for our brand-new Chess Club at Hereford Library, run in partnership with the Herefordshire Chess Association.

Whether your child is completely new to chess or looking to improve their skills, this fun and welcoming club is the perfect place to learn, play and grow in confidence.

Chess tutors from the Herefordshire Chess Association will lead the sessions and help children get started and/or improve their skills, supporting young players as they learn the basics and build confidence in a friendly and supportive environment.

In celebration of the National Year of Reading 2026, we have launched Books & Brews - a readers’ group designed to welcome new members, encourage social connection and celebrate reading for pleasure in a relaxed, friendly space.
