North Yorkshire: School application deadlines Jan 15th 2027

Parents and carers of children starting primary school in North Yorkshire next September are being urged to apply for places before the January deadline.

North Yorkshire Council has opened applications for children born between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2023, with families having until January 15, 2027, to submit their preferences.

Parents can list up to five schools in order of preference and are being encouraged to research their options before applying.

The council says a record 96 per cent of families secured their first-choice primary school place this year, up from 95 per cent the previous year.

North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for education, learning and skills, Cllr Annabel Wilkinson, said: “We know that choosing the correct primary school for families is important, which is why we have included lots of information about the application process and details about the county’s schools on our website.

“For a child to be allocated a school place it is crucial that you make an application to the local authority where you live and the deadline to apply is January 15, 2027.

First Defence Partners: What Is a Payroll Saving Scheme?

What Is a Payroll Saving Scheme?

Author: First Defence Finance

We all know that saving money is a good idea. The tricky part is finding something left over at the end of the month to actually save.

A payroll saving scheme makes saving easier by allowing you to save directly from your MOD salary.

Instead of waiting until the end of the month to see what's left, you choose how much you'd like to save, and it is automatically deducted from your pay and put into your savings account.

How does payroll saving work?

The process is straightforward:

You choose how much to save → the amount is deducted from your salary → your employer passes it to the savings provider → your savings build up over time.

You don't need to remember to make a transfer each month, and even a small amount can add up over time.
